This article points out that it is not healthy for a church to just have leaders doing the studying, reading and coming up with the lessons that Jesus gave us to learn, because our Church leaders are imperfect and will make mistakes (whether they want to admit it or not) and if all we do is take a Pastors word that what he is teaching is right then we can very easily get led astray. We need to consult the High Priest, the Counselor, Jesus Christ by reading the scriptures ourselves, wrestling with the Word ourselves and in groups so we can have our brothers and sisters call us out if they think we are over thinking a passage or if we just got the wrong idea from the passage.

This is something I think Sierra Community Church is very strong in. Not only do we have an outstanding teaching leadership at the church, we have dozens of small groups that meet in homes, at the church, or even the beach and going through the lessons in the bible. There is even a group that meets after the first Sunday service to critically analyze the message from the Pastor.
