Dear Friends & Family

I wanted to bring you up to date on what’s happening in my life. I’m currently in my sophomore year at San Jose State. These last 2 years have been the most incredible times of my life. Though balancing school, work, and a social life can be difficult at times, I wouldn’t trade any of the experiences I’ve had for the world. Of all these, the greatest event thus far has been coming to know Jesus Christ through the work of CRU, a Christian Ministry on the San Jose State Campus. Through my involvement with CRU and as my faith has grown, it’s been put on my heart recently to want to go out and serve God in some big way. This summer, I have just that opportunity.

CRU has been caring for college students since 1951. The group is very active here at San Jose State and over 1,000 campuses in the U.S. and overseas. The Lord has used thisministry to help me grow in my faith and to give me a burden to reach people for Christ.

This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to take part in a summer mission project sponsored by CRU. Iwill be going with approximately 70 other students from across the country to Santa Monica, California. A summer project provides an environment unlike any other to develop spiritual leadership skills needed to not only reach my campus, but also reach people where ever my life takes me after college.

Over the course of this summer, I will have many opportunities to engage with people and share my faith, whether it’s with the thousands of tourists who come to visit Santa Monica or with the people I encounter as I work over the summer. Our mission team will be leading outreaches that will engage people on the beaches, on the nearby college campus, and throughout the community. At the same time, students on project will be involved in Bible studies and discipleship ministry. Through this summer, my main hope is to grow closer to God and learn skills that I can take into future ministry work. Even though I’m extremely nervous, I can’t wait to see what God has in store for our team this summer

In order to make this possible, I need to develop a team of ministry partners who will help provide the support needed to go on project. All gifts will be earmarked for my summer project expenses.

As you might imagine, raising the necessary funds will be one of my greatest steps of faith in preparation for the summer. I need a total of $3,800 which covers room and board for the summer as well as transportation. Would you prayerfully consider joining my team by giving a gift of $100, $200, $300 or more? Of course whatever amount the Lord leads you to do is the right amount. The easiest way to give is on Cru’s secure online giving site at http://give.gosummerproject.com/louis-pepi/. Or if you prefer, you can simply return the enclosed response slip with your check payable to Cru. I will give you a call to see what you are thinking within two weeks of when I sent out this letter

Above all, I ask for prayers for this summer as I already know that my faith will be tested to the extreme.Pray for the people we reach down in Santa Monica. I thank you for considering joining my ministry team.

Gratefully,

Louis Pepi
